If you have a puppy that is going to need regular grooming then the sooner you start the better it is for your puppy. I take puppies once they have had their first vaccination.
Question: How old does my puppy need to be before their first groom?
Puppy grooming will start from 10 weeks old up until the age of 12 months. Again this may change due to size of the dog as some breeds are fully grown by the age of 8 months.
From experience we recommend it is best to get your puppy groomed from a young age, this will give them time to get used to being around new people and being groomed with various equipment. Depending on how young the puppy is it may not tolerate a lot to start with so we would recommend:-
– A complete brush out
– Some minor trimming around the feet, bottom, eyes
– Ear hygiene both cleaned and plucked if possible
– Nails clipped
– Teeth brushed
